The Jodie Sweetin We Know

Do you remember Jodie Sweetin? She’s the girl on “Full House” who played Stephanie Tanner. She was definitely one of my favorite characters on the ABC television show. She was always so sweet and cute, almost like a perfect angel sent from up above. However, what I’m hearing today does not sound like the Stephanie Tanner we know.
“Unsweetened” Jodie Sweetin: I was high on cocaine!
According to the New York Daily News, Jodie Sweetin has written a new autobiography called “Unsweetened,” a memoir about her life and past struggles with alcohol and drug abuse. Apparently, the 27 year-old actress is finally coming clean for real this time. She admits to being high on cocaine even while traveling to universities across the country to talk about drugs.
“I thought for sure that one of the professors would take one look at me and kick me out,” she writes. “But none did. They wanted to hear about the trials and tribulations of Jodie Sweetin, or at least the Jodie Sweetin I had created.”
Jodie Sweetin says she started taking drugs to prove she was not as innocent as the goody-two-shoes Stephanie Tanner everyone knew.
Alcohol, Drugs, and DUI – Nothing new with Jodie Sweetin
I, personally, was not aware Jodie had a problem with alcohol and drugs. I’m now just finding out. Apparently, she was getting drunk even before she set foot in high school.
According to other reports, in 1994, Jodie was so drunk at co-star Candace Cameron’s wedding she passed out in the bathroom. Even worse, her 8 month-old daughter was taken away from her last year when her estranged husband accused her of being an unfit parent, claiming she even drove under the influence of alcohol with the baby in the car! A California judge ruled against Jodie, forbidding her from seeing her daughter without supervision.
Jodie Sweetin should be applauded for her autobiography, Unsweetened. I give her credit for having the courage to come out in public and share her story. Let’s just hope this time it’s for real for real.
